Bacon Wrapped Dates With Almonds

Thanksgiving is a time for reflection: a time to enjoy friends and family, a time to watch some football...

But most of all, Thanksgiving is a time to eat. Ok, so the traditional meat of choice for this festive occasion is tuuuuurkey (note I'm saying that with a sneer). Turkey's actually pretty good (especially if it's fried) but man, what were those Pilgrims thinking when they skipped over all the delicious pork roaming the virgin countryside (note, I am not a historian, and based on some history channel specials think the wild boar were actually brought here by the Europeans, maybe?). I digress.

This thanksgiving we decided to start things off right. This means we started them off with bacon. My aunt made these delicious stuffed dates wrapped in bacon. Oh man, the perfect combination of sweet, chewy, crunchy, savory, and salty. The best way to tell you how good they were is to tell you how long they lasted. Basically, they didn't. The entire plate was gone in minutes.

I give this two huge thumbs up, and they seem pretty easy to make (especially since I didn't make them). Happy Festivus from the Restivus!
